Fellowship
The early church continued stedfastly in fellowship. By definition, "fellowship" is "social intercourse". In other words, it is a time of social intimacy, camaraderie, and exchange. It is a time when we strengthen, encourage, and get to know one another. It is a time where we refresh one another. Interestingly, we have found that some of the best ministry takes place during fellowship.
Consider the following passages:
- (Psalms 119:63) I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.
- (Proverbs 27:9) Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
- (Proverbs 27:17) Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
- (Malachi 3:16) Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
- (Philippians 2:1-2) If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
- (1 John 1:3) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
- (1 John 1:6-7) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Remnant Christian Assembly schedules fellowship-based events on a regular basis and encourages service attendees and people from other churches to join us at such establishments as: area restaurants, the zoo, science centers, a church bowling league, fitness walking, and much more. The message we stress is that WHAT we're doing is not as important as WHOM we're doing it with. We strive to experience the Lord regardless of the event.
Those who truly know the Lord and walk in the light do not have to strain to fellowship. It is our nature (1 John 1:7). Everyone should strive for true fellowship and reap the benefits accordingly.
